Ned Moore, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder of Portico Systems
Ned Moore has been involved in the healthcare industry working with health care payers for more than 10 years. He brings to Portico Systems an understanding of the current market challenges along with their strategic impact and the opportunities that they present for the industry. Building on this experience, Ned was a key visionary behind the Portico product platform that is currently the entire focus of Portico Systems.
As part of his work in the healthcare industry Ned has consulted with several of the industry top executives regarding industry trends and their strategic outlook. He has also worked closely with plans on helping them bridge the gap between business needs and how to apply technology to gain value from their investment.
Outside of Portico Systems, Ned has had an impressive record of success in a wide array of sectors including information technology, real estate and distribution industries. As part of this experience he has focused on all facets of these industries including enabling companies to leverage and build customer relationships as well as financial and operational excellence. He brings this broad range of experience to the healthcare sector and applies the appropriate business and operational principles to enable Portico Systems to produce tangible value to the healthcare market.
Ned graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Villanova University and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale where he also serves as the Chairman of the Robert G. Hamilton Endowment Fund. Ned has been recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal with a 2007 Forty Under Forty Award, which recognizes commitment to professional excellence and community involvement. He is also a semi-finalist for the 2007 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
William L. Pocklington, Executive Vice President & Director of Portico Systems Bill Pocklington leads sales and business development and is responsible for all company revenue including direct sales and channels. He works with the rest of the management team to evaluate and drive new strategic business opportunities, including strategic alliances.
Prior to joining Portico Systems, Bill led sales, business development, consulting services and marketing for more than twenty years for Strategic Management Group, Inc., a highly successful computer-based business simulation software company. While leading sales at Strategic Management Group, Inc., Bill successfully grew revenue from $500,000 to more than $27,000,000. Serving more than 150 of the Fortune 500 companies, Strategic Management Group’s business simulation software products modeled their clients’ businesses and were utilized by senior executives for planning and training purposes. While at Strategic Management Group, Bill consulted with many Fortune 500 companies regarding their strategic plans and executive development strategies.
Bill graduated from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Finance and Accounting. Bill is also a Director of Adaptiv Learning and Planning and Control, Inc. He is also an avid golfer.
Scott Fraser, Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder As co-founder and chief technology officer at Portico Systems, Scott Fraser is the technology visionary behind the Portico product platform and has been the driving force behind adoption of web-based technologies and the strategic product direction.
Bringing more than twenty years experience and expertise in the information technology sector and more than ten years of healthcare technology experience to Portico Systems, Scott has an intimate knowledge and broad reaching experience in myriad software development platforms and technologies as well as a deeply rooted command of network, infrastructure and architecture platforms.
Scott began his career in computer technology immediately after high school and later attended Eastern College in St. David’s, PA, graduating with a B.S. in Biology with an environmental focus. It was there that he discovered his love of birding and he has since traveled to Scotland, Kenya, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and the Galapagos for international birding expeditions. In the US Scott has covered ground from Key West to Prince Edward Island.
As the author of fraser.blogs.com he became an internet phenomenon as a film he posted there of flocking starlings reached the #2 position on the Google Video Top 100. Scott continues to support his interest in the environment as a member of the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club and the Society for the Preservation of the Evansburg Historic District.
Sam Muppalla, Chief Operating Officer Sam Muppalla is responsible for setting product direction and building operational excellence at Portico. Since joining in March 2005, he has strengthened Portico’s competitive stance by re-branding the company, modularizing the product platform, and introducing the industry first end-to-end NPI solution.
Before joining Portico, Sam was CIO and VP of Product Management at Comcast Commercial Services (CCS). In this role he defined, commercialized and launched the CCS product portfolio to capture share in a $1.5BN market. He also led the IT department which was responsible for a portfolio of 30+ applications and a Telco-grade data center. Prior to Comcast, Sam was the CIO for Broadnet Europe, where he played an instrumental role in building and launching the company in 5 countries. Sam also served as CTO for Deloitte Consulting''s CRM Practice where he advised numerous Fortune 500 clients with their plans to focus on better ways to manage relationships with their customers.
Sam graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, India.
Nanci Ziegler, Executive Vice President Market Strategy and Business Development Nanci Ziegler drives strategic partnerships and revenue growth for Portico Systems and contributes to the strategic product roadmap. Her extensive healthcare industry experience is leveraged to deepen understanding of the marketplace across the entire organization.
Prior to joining Portico, Nanci accumulated more than fifteen years of experience in the healthcare field at CIGNA, INTRACORP and NovaCare. Most recently, she was the VP of Provider Project Delivery at CIGNA where she managed several enterprise provider information management projects. She has extensive experience with growing software companies, including an AVP role at INTRACORP, a leader in disability case management software, clinical guidelines and provider billing review software, at Comshare, a company specializing in human resource and Executive Information Systems and at Diamond Management Systems, a niche software company specializing in accounting software for country clubs. At each of these organizations Nanci was instrumental in significantly growing the business through targeted acquisition and retention strategies.
Her educational achievements include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Engineering from Lafayette College and further studies at the Austro American Institute of Vienna, Austria.
Nanci is a trained Six Sigma Black Belt and a foundation board member of Montgomery County Community College.
Michael Sean Flanagan, Vice President of Products & Marketing Mike Flanagan is responsible for product strategy, management, delivery, knowledge, and marketing at Portico Systems. He helps to chart and implement future product direction, govern the release management, institutionalize product knowledge, develop thought leadership, and guide marketing strategies. Since joining Portico Systems in April 2001, he has overseen all of the Portico platform releases and successfully delivered on the product roadmap.
With more than six years of healthcare industry experience and more than 15 years of marketing and product management experience, Mike brings a depth of health care knowledge regarding product design, rating algorithms, and sales automation, as well as provider enrollment, credentialing, contracting and network maintenance knowledge.
Prior to joining Portico Systems, Mike served in various product management roles. He was a product manager for the fastest growing product line at StarCite, a leading provider of on demand global meeting solutions. Previous to StarCite, he was the managing director of Wharton\''''s Family Controlled Corporation Program (FCCP) and responsible for directing operations and global research efforts. Mike also served as a regional marketing and technology manager for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company in their Midwest region and was responsible for directing more than 20 offices. He began his career as a director of marketing for Flanagan Financial Group and was recognized for his innovative approaches to marketing financial products.
Mike graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor degree in Marketing. He also holds a Management of e-Commerce certificate from Villanova University as well as numerous Internet technology certifications.
Drew Gajan, Vice President, Professional Services Drew Gajan joined Portico Systems in July 2006 as Vice President, Professional Services and is responsible for leading the services group by ensuring effective implementation of Portico solutions, maintaining client profitability, developing Portico resources, enhancing methodologies and approaches, and managing service delivery partnerships.
Drew has more than ten years of insurance management and operations experience and more than ten years as a business consultant. His operational experience in the insurance industry includes underwriting, product development, product management, producer management, and market strategy. His consulting and industry experiences have included business transformation, business process engineering, customer relationship management, HIPAA, and business continuity planning.
Prior to joining Portico Systems, Gajan was Director of Consulting for the Business Process Engineering practice for The TriZetto Group, Inc. and held senior positions at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Unisys Corporation and CIGNA.
He received his Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Virginia (Darden School of Business) with an emphasis in Finance and his Bachelors of Science degree in Finance from Indiana University.
Beth Kuzmak, Vice President of Engineering As Vice President of Engineering, Beth Kuzmakleads all facets of software development, including Design, Development, Distribution and Customer Support. In addition, she holds a position on the Product Council Board and Architecture Review Board.
Beth has been involved in the healthcare industry working with healthcare payers for more than six years and has more than 16 years of professional experience in the technology industry. Her health care experience touches a broad range of business processes within the payer sector including network and product design, broker distribution, direct sales, customer/provider servicing and claims processing.
Prior to joining Portico, Beth was the Director of Product Development at PDS, a leading developer of Human Resource, Benefit and Payroll software solutions for all industries. In this capacity, she was responsible for managing the Design, Development and Distribution of the product. In addition, she held a position on the Product Control Steering Committee. Her other professional experience was as a System Analyst at Conston, Inc.
Beth graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Design and Merchandising.
Dan Zebrowski, Vice President Finance Dan Zebrowski joined Portico Systems in June 2006 and is responsible for overseeing all the financial operations at Portico and providing financial guidance and leadership on the strategic vision of the company.
Prior to joining Portico Systems, Dan was Vice President Finance for Vis.Align, LLC, a leading high-technology mid-market solution services company in King of Prussia, PA. He has extensive experience in implementing fiscal processes and controls for software development firms as well as managing complexities surrounding the fiscal reporting requirements for software product companies. Dan’s more than 20 years of experience were acquired with both public and private high-technology healthcare related software and services firms ranging from start-ups to companies with $400 million in revenue.
Dan graduated from the College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Pennsylvania and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
